Renovation, seismic improvement and construction management for the Palazzo delle Poste in Bologna

The object of the intervention is the portico of the building called Casa Aria, formerly a convent of San Lorenzo, in Via Castiglione 44/46 Bologna.

The intervention involves the renovation of the portico on Via Castiglione to be carried out in two phases:

The Palazzo delle Poste was designed in 1903 by the engineer Emilio Saffi and inaugurated in 1911.

It is considered one of the most prestigious buildings in Bologna in the modern period, from a decorative and stylistic point of view. The construction of the palace involved, among other things, the demolition of the church of Sant’Agata on via Castiglione.

Even today it performs the same function, scenographically closing the square dedicated to the Bolognese statesman, which also overlooks the Palazzo della Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna completed in 1877 on a project by Giuseppe Mengoni.
