Safety intervention in Sala Bolognese, province of Bologna

Architettura Strutturale has carried out a safety intervention for the Villa Terracini in Sala Bolognese in the province of Bologna.

Villa Terracini is located in Osteria Nuova, a hamlet about 4 km from Sala Bolognese.

Built in 1851 by Angelo Bassi, the villa represents in its sober architecture a typical manor house of the plain. Inside it houses a large atrium and an oval room used for banquets, painted in the village with views of hills, fountains, statues and temples. Among the decorations, Bacchus and Ceres by Antonio Bàsoli stand out, ceilings decorated with medallions, numerous cherubs and female figures.

In the large park that surrounds it there is a beautiful example of a “preserve”, a sort of natural pantry-fridge used until the past century.

In one of the two deconsecrated churches of the complex there is “La Chiesa dell’Arte”, the only school of plastic arts directed by a blind sculptor who since 2006 has been carrying out courses and workshops aimed at anyone who wants to approach in a new and alternative way to sculptural art, following a particular tactile-visual working method, in which you look with your hands and touch with your eyes.

The Youth Forum is hosted in the Barchessa of Villa Terracini, a place for discussion and communication as well as a social space for aggregation and active participation of young people in the life of Sala Bolognese.

The building is only observable from the outside. Open to the public on the occasion of cultural events.
